Vexillum Designs

After 28 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, Vexillum's founder, Len Pilhoffer, is exploring the latent artist within him through the medium of wood and paint.  He creates images in Adobe Illustrator, sends them to a laser cutter/engraver, paints the resulting pieces and assembles them back into the forms you see here.  He can sometimes be heard muttering to himself:

"I wonder if I can laser-cut that?"

The VEXILLUM

was a flag-like object used as a military standard by units in the Roman army. 

A common vexillum displayed imagery of the Roman aquila on a reddish backdrop.
